what ground cover to plant
#1

in sacramento, ca my lot has a gradual rise following the street which has a 3 to 5 foot bare ground area. toward the bottom of the rise summer irrigation drains, as does winter rain. what bare ground cover could i plant and train to grow (from the lawn area) toward the street that can put up with "extra" water at the base of the rise and "no" water at the top of the rise. i estimate this to be about 120 feet in length. am thinking vinca minor, but concerned it, like other ground covers may get sunburned. thanks for any responses.

Hi - Go to your local quality nursery (not a discounter or big box store). They will be familiar with your climate, soil, etc. They also know plants and will be able to recommend a solution for you. In addition, they can advise you on soil prep, feeding, care, and probably have the plants on hand so you can take them home and get them growing. Best - retired commercial grower
