Morning Glories growing like crazy.. need suggestions
#1
I have a morning glory in the front of my house. They are growing near a pillar (it is about 10"square) and I would like a way to get them to grow up the pillar.. without going the chicken wire route. It is too large for them to grow around, as of yet, but they are growing around some of my other plants. Does any one have an easier, better looking idea?
Thanks.

If you can nail into the pillar put some small nails at top and bottom. Between these run some garden twine (green or tan whichever shows less). This will give the plant something smaller to attach to. You will need to carefully guide the plant (don't damage the growing point) to the twine to encourage it to climb where you want it. If you can not nail simply tie the twine around the pillar (top and bottom) and then attach the up and down runs of twine. At the end of the season the remains of the plant along with the twine can be easily removed and composted.
