Silt fence as a mulch?
I have about 200' of silt fence. Has anyone here used it as mulch on their garden?
Does anyone see a problem doing this?
Thanks in advance.

Bruce, silt fence is synthetic and it won't decompose, so using it as a "mulch" won't work. Now if you are planning on using it for a weed block, it may work, depending on if it lets enough water through.

Oh geez...you mean that foot tall orange or black stuff held with stakes around a construction site?

Do you have a reason why you wouldn't use it? Many use black plastic (which doesn't allow water penetration). To me it would make more sense to use this, as long as there isn't anything harmful in it.

Well...I think you said mulch...when you really meant something more like a weedblock with mulch on top?

The weed block products work great for a few years! Then the weeds will start to grow in the fabric. The roots are very hard to remove. I wished I'd never used it. Much easier to pull weeds with no weed block. I wished I'd never used it.

Yes, I wasn't very clear. I mean to use it as a weedblock, without mulch on top.
