Topping Arborvitae?
We have about 20 arborvitae lining our fence ranging from 8-9' feet up to about 15'. It looks a bit unkept to have all the varying heights of arborvitae around our back yard, so in addition to trimming them a bit with some hedgers, I'm also considering topping them down to equal heights.
Would this kill them? Would this make them look worse because they'd no longer have that pyramid point at the top? They'd be more squared off at the top if I cut them.
Thanks for the input.

Topping arborvitae will not kill them. I topped some arborvitae several years ago and they did look squared off for awhile...maybe a year or two. Eventually the top limbs turned up and they looked normal again. You would not know they had been topped.
