Help!!!!! My sprinklers won't turn off

Hey guys, I'm a new home owner and am completely lost when troubleshooting my backyard sprinkler system.

So I have an Orbit sprinkler system with several sprinklers throughout my backyard. They only way I can turn them on is if I turn on the water valve which obviously is the source of the sprinklers. I have an Orbit timer but for whatever reason, it won't turn off the sprinklers once I turn the water valve on.

I've reset the timer and reprogrammed it but it still doesn't regulate when the sprinklers on and off. The damn sprinklers just stay on unless I manually turn off the water valve.

If anyone has any advice/ suggestion I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Jake

The diaphragms in the valves may be toast or there could be something wrong with the controller keeping the valves open.

If you unplug the controller do the sprinklers still stay on? Do you have a volt meter?

Yeah, I unplugged the controller and opened the water valve and the sprinklers turn on.

I do not have a volt meter

You won't need a voltmeter. You confirmed that the valve is staying open with no power since you had the master unit unplugged. You will have to rebuild or replace your sprinkler valve. Neither choice is very expensive but it depends on the type and model of your valve.

See if you can find a part number on it or shoot us a picture of it.

Your timer may be off. Are you sure the clock is set to current time via AM / PM? This might have something to do with it.
