Another maple tree ??

Hi all, Sorry but I have another maple tree ??. I was digging a water inspection hole...(for lack of proper term)....in one spot that I thought was just at the edge of the root ball in our maple tree. I ran across a couple of small white bulb type looking things that I may have cut while digging. Kinda looked like a very small clove of garlic. Would this be associated with our maple tree ?? Maybe a root end or something ?? Or is it strictly a coincidence and maybe I should be putting them in our next batch of spaghetti.....LOL.

Was there any foliage attached to the bulbs? What do they smell like?

The bulbs could be part of a ramp, wild onion or wild garlic. Wild onions and wild garlic smell like... onion and garlic and if they do smell like onion or garlic are edible though I'd use them sparingly as a spice.

LOL....I was more or less joking about the garlic thing. The one I saved has since dried up so I have no clue on what it smelled like. Thought maybe someone would know if it may be related to the newly planted Maple tree.
