Can I move rhubarb in the summer?

We are moving soon to a new house in the same neighborhood. We have two mature rhubarb plants that we'd like to take along, but all the advice I've read says to move it in the spring or fall. Any advice on a summertime move? Is it worth trying?
Thanks,
Andy

What do you have to loose? Take as much root as you can and be vigilant about watering until fall.

In addition, make sure the new hole is twice as wide as the root system you will bring with you. Mix the original soil from the hole with a good potting type soil so the roots won't have to work so hard to get established. Spread the roots evenly and cover. Watering will be the key as Dane states.

Thanks guys, good advice. I'll check back in after I move them & we'll see how it goes.
