low retaining wall

I find I have to build a low (2 feet or so) stone wall to act as a divider between a level area of lawn and a sloping area filled with ground cover and shrubs. Question is, should I be placing gravel behind the stone as well as using gravel as a base for the wall?

Rodent ate bark of apple tree HELP

I live in Northern Maine and now that the snow has begun to melt, I have noticed some rodent has eaten away a good part of the bark from my Apple trees that was under snow, completely around the trunk. Does anyone know if these trees are salvageable and if yes how? They are approximately 5 years old, 6 to 7 feet high and were 1 to 2 years away from bearing fruit. Any suggestions? Anyone??Read More

What type of worm is this?

I have been finding these small white curled up worms in my garden. They are everywhere! What could they be and are they beneficial or will they damage my plants. If I were to pull them straight they would measure 1". They are about 1/4" around. If they are not beneficial how can I get rid of them and not hurt my plants?Read More
