Are ants a threat to fruit trees?
#1
Hi, I need help. Are ants harmful and considered pests to fruit trees (cherry, plum, pear, persimmon, peach, lemon, orange, and apricot)? If so, what do I do to prevent them? If not, should I just let them climb on my trees?
Thanks

Ants on fruit trees
Contact your local Dept. of Agriculture Extension Agent for the recommended spraying program in your area for each type of fruit tree you have. The Extension Agent is a wonderful source of free info for all your gardening projects. Ants tend to be present on fruit trees because they are after the sticky, sugary substance left behind by the aphids who are munching on your trees.

Ants are the least of all your fruit tree problems. Very early spring or after blooming you can control most pests with an insecticidal soap - you can find it at Lowes.
