Help pruning peach tree

Hi

I have this Peach tree in the small front yard of this house that I bought 2 years ago and it produced a very large number of fruit this year although most of it had the black spot disease on them, but someone said that you can peel and still eat them which we did. They were very good!

Anyways, can anyone recommend how to prune this tree? I know really very little about pruning, etc. Is the bend in the main trunk a problem? How old do you reckon this tree is roughly?

 

I would say its maybe 10-12 yrs old... hard to tell. This is the sort of thing that videos describe best so you could google that... Peach trees bear fruit on the previous years growth. So you need to consider that, and prune no more than 50% of old growth if you still want plentiful fruit. You don't want branches to break, so consider that too. Long lanky branches need to be pruned back. You also want to trim after the leaves have fallen. Trimming branches with leaves before fall hurts the tree's nutrition. But you can remove any dead branches now.

Every other year you probably want to cut 50% of your biggest branches back or else it just gets bigger and bigger, more and more lanky.

 

I don't see any 2x4 holding up the branches. Did any break or split in past two years...because of fruit accumulation ? I would advise getting an experienced arborist/gardener over in springtime to prune....and you take a video or watch carefully and take notes.
