Insects in the garden
#1
I have two questions:
(1) I just planted 3 sunflower plants, along with many different vegetable plants in my garden. Five days after planting, one of the sunflower plants exhibits insefct damage - holes in several of the leaves. The other 2 sunflower plants do not yet have this and none of the vegetable plants show signs of similar damage. Any idea what causes this and how to combat it?
(2) I am looking for a good source of information on preventing insect damage to vegetable plants - by type of vegbetable plant. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi Bob,
(1) I'm not sure what your problem is with your sunflowers, but it sounds like the larvae of the moth as the site below suggests.

(2) This site should be helpful with several insects in the garden. The first thing I try is 1 TBS. of NON-bacterial soap in one gallon of water. I don't have a big problem with insects for some reason, and that works for almost everything I have. I only resort to chemicals if I have to.
