Any idea what these bugs might be and are they harmful?

My wife and I are not very knowledgeable about plants or trees. However, my wife really likes this flowering tree. Don't even know the name of it.
But this morning she found these really tiny bugs on several of the buds. Sorry, these are the best I coud do with the phone.

All I can see are fuzzy dark blobs. Are the insects harming the tree? It is sort of common to find insects in blossoms after their peak. Part of nature's way of breaking things down and not wasting anything.

Your tree looks something like a "Rose of Sharon" and they do have ants that open the blossoms by eating away the outside so the flowers can bloom.
I can't tell what the bugs look like, maybe some kind of an Aphid, but they are too fuzzy in the picture to be able to tell for sure. You may try again, for a better picture?

Yes that is what it is. Nursey guy could not determine what the bugs are. But we bought some general purpose spray. Hope that doesn't deter the ants from doing their thing.
