Is this date palm tree dead or dying?

I have a 20í palm tree, I believe itís a date palm, here in Houston. It got hit really bad by the freeze. Can you tell by the pictures if it is dead? I donít want it to fall on the fence or the shed. I donít see any new green growth at the top. How long do I have before it falls over?

Palms don't like freezing temps although I'd wait until late spring before I pronounced it dead - maybe you'll get lucky.

It all depends on accurately identifying your palm. Like marksr mentioned. Most palms don't like freezing temperatures but some varieties can tolerate short periods of mild freezing. Being in Houston I doubt (or hope) someone didn't plant a variety that can't take any freezing. If you were in an area that got really cold for a long time it doesn't bode well for the tree.
