Bougainvillea
OK, it is a slow day for me today. Decided to ask this question.
I have Bougainvillea for 8 years and although I really like them, they grow so fast during Summer and Fall. I usually don't have to worry about them from the month of October to May. However, they grow like crazy from the month of June to September and I find myself to constantly hedge them every week and cleaning up after them, literally grows 6 inches per week.
Is there something that I can do to slow down the growth rate in summer and fall? I never water these for the exception of the first two years. I already cut them from 6 feet down to 3 feet, only to find them to grow even faster.
I even have stopped talking to them.

Remove them and plant something slower growing. Fast growing plants tend to be less expensive to buy and they grow fast so you get something big and pretty reasonably quick. But, there is a price to pay especially if they were not planted to account for their final size.

Yea, I know the feeling. I love my banana's and bamboo but they can both be a pain to keep contained.
