We have a perennial garden with an area of Cleome fronted by Coneflowers. This year the Cleome is doing great but the Coneflowers did not return. Instead this creeping vine is taking over the area. I'm about to rip it out but I would like to know what it is first.
I'm in zone 6A.
On directions just like most lawn care it states that it is safe for pets once it has dried. My wife brought up a good point and this goes for all lawn applications. What if it rains the next day, is it now wet and harmful to pets? Thoughts?Read More
Hello all!
I am in the process of building a wood retaining wall at the bottom of a hill in my back yard (pics below).
At the top of that hill, I have a very large eastern white pine. When digging the trench to put my base layer of gravel, I encountered some roots.
My original plan was to keep the larger roots alive cutting my base 6x6 and my and letting the roots run through.
This is causing an issue for drainage however, as if I have roots running throughout, it will be very difficult to slope my perforated pipe appropriately.
For the purpose of this thread, my question is the following: will cutting the 3 roots in the pic kill the tree? They are about 6-7 feet away from the base of the tree and about 1.5" in diameter at most. I don't know if they are considered surface roots or not, because they follow the hill downwards.
If I cannot cut the roots, I will have to figure out an alternative plan for drainage.
Many thanks!
