Question

I have a large burning bush, about 8' high and 12'dia., growing in the corner of the driveway and street.I can see oncoming traffic when I pull out.The local garden shop told me never to prune or trim burning bushes.Any truth to this?It has a nice shape now ,I really dont want to square off one side.Any advise?Thank You for your time,Brian.

Hi Brian,

It's your bush. You can do anything you want to with it. Besides, it CAN be pruned and shaped.

Thanks Gami,Thats just the answer I was looking for!I think the local garden shop "pro?" needs to find a new line of work.I will give the bush a good trim this winter.I cant afford a wreck with insurance rates the way they are here in Western N.C.Thanks again,Brian

You're welcome, Brian. I know what you mean. We dug out a huge evergreen shrub for my daughter that was actually their neighbors (with permission). It was dangerous for the kids also. They darted out with bikes and rollerblades without stopping to look.

You can prune it now.
