What kind of shrubs/plants work best for forming a privacy hedge? Now there is a chain-link fence dividing the properties. My neighbor has a dog penned directly on the other side of this fence and it, of course, urinates though the fence on to my property constantly. I would like to put up more of a barrier such as hedges or maybe elevate the ground level on my side of the fence.

I guess my question is what would be a good privacy hedge that would tolerate an animal urinating on it? Any other suggestions?

What is arbavida? I can't seem to find any information on it anywhere. Is there another name for it?

Hi Jst,

I think Nosoup meant arborvitae.

Here's a link on it and some other suggestions -

You didn't say how tall you want it. I'm not sure anything could stand a constant watering from dogs.

Have you seen those plastic or vinyl slats that you weave through chain link fences? That might be an option, then you can plant flowers or vines in front and on it.

Thanks Gami, that sounds like a good idea. I'll consider it. I was thinking of a hedge probably no more than 3-4 ft tall.
