Question

I live in a very hot country, at the moment the temp is about 40C at midday. I do not have a garden everything is in pots. About 5-6 weeks ago I aquired two established grapevines. I was away for 3 weeks and on return find that one of them has one stem that has climbed the 5 foot trellis. The other one grew a little. Is one supposed to nip out the grwing tip to allow the rest of the plant to grow. I have the same thing with the sweet peas that i do nip off, but during the 3 weeks it just took off!

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Redrose,

According to this site, you shouldn't do any nipping on grapes the first year.
