Question

I have area of about 500 sq feet of Japanese Spurge and I would like to cut it down right now so that I could remove millions and millions of acorns and other trash that has collected in the area for last couple of years. Would that
hurt the plant to do it now - month or two before winter?

Hi Andy,

Yes, from what I read it will hurt. Pruning your pachysandra now will encourage new growth that could be dangered through the winter. I didn't find anything at all on pruning it way back at anytime. You can cut the tips in the spring to encourage them to become more dense.

Keep in mind that leaves, etc., will break down adding nutrients to your soil.

Heed Gami's advice - do not prune pachysandra.

The leaves will provide nutrients.

You might be able to vacuum the acorns out.
