Question Hippeastrum/Amaryllis

Planted a bulb of this specimen for the first time this year. Magnificent flowers, but what do I do after flowering? Bulb came to me with bare dry roots and stems cut off level with top of bulb; if this is the way to preserve them between seasons, at what stage do I lift, dry and cut back the stem?
All advise gratefully received.

N.B. due to level of rainfall here, doubt whether just putting pot out side for summer/autumn would work . . . .

grh59, The after blooming and forcing rules on this are much like other bulbs. Try
