How To Take Care of an Apple Tree?
#1

I have lived in my current location for about 4 years now and I have an apple tree in my backyard. It seems as though I am getting more and more bugs every year in my apples. I would say I get about 40% of my total that a bug has not made a hole in. What can I do to treat the tree? What do I spray on it and when? Pretty new to apple trees so any help would be wonderful. My 2 year old loves to pick one off the tree and eat it but I have to thoroughly inspeck each one first
Thanks in advance,
Senna

We had a small orchard in our backyard growing up, including several varities of apple trees. Every spring we would make our own dormant oil spray and use a hand sprayer to completly cover the leaves and branches (before it blooms or buds).
This is from memory but I think its about right
1 bottle mineral oil
1/3 cup dish washing liquid (we used dawn, any kind but NOT antibacterial)
3 Gallons warm water
Shake to mix, spray trees...
Seemed to kill borrowing bugs and leaf eaters also...
Hope this helps...

This all does help. I went today and purchased some dormant spray from my local plant shop. They said that after you put this on thereis another chemical you put on once you begin to get buds.
Do you know anything about that?
Also, Can I go ahead and put the dormant spray on now?
Thanks for everyones advice,
Senna
