Chain Saw

Could some one please tell me the differences between gas powered chainsaw vs. electric ones? Am thinking of getting one to take care of some deadwood in the yard. But not sure what to buy...

thanks.

NorthVA,
Electrics are certainly light duty, basic trimming, etc.
If you just have a small amount of work, you should probably borrow or rent a small gas unit to see if you like it.
I was given an electric about 10yrs ago, it's still wrapped in the original plastic bag. But I've got two gas saws and have some acreage to cover - trails etc.
How big is your yard and how much cuttng do you expect?

As a small engine mechanic, I will put in my 2 cents here. If you will be using the saw once in a blue moon, then go with an electric one, if you will be near electricity. With a gas saw, you will get frustrated when you get ready to use it and it won't start after a long storage time. Gas saws take much upkeep, are heavier, and possibly a little more dangerous. However, a well tuned quality gas saw is usually stronger, and definitely more portable. Hope this helps!
