List Questions for owner/modereator
I am a moderator on 3 groups at Yahoo,
Hope you won't object to a couple ?
Slight background.
Yahoo maybe charging for services shortly, so I am looking at some alternatives
One of the list that I am on needs to keep a couple ugly folks out.
I would like to know if this is a purchased software or it is a DYI
exclusive?
Can individual members be moderated?
Thanks

Hi Byron,
Don't know if Tom will see this right away.
Keeping the 'uglys' out is not a DIY exclusive. I've seen it on many brands of forums. It's usually handled at the server by the administrator by blocking the ID or IP address of the 'undesireable'.

Hi Byron,
I really know nothing about the mechanics of DIY, but did you notice when you post, you get a message that says "if the moderator has chosen to moderate this post, it may take awhile before it's posted". (or something like that) I assumed that meant that they would be notified of the bad guys and put a flag on their posts???

Hello All
The Mod(s) for the particular forum are supposed to be overseeing their charge. We are supposed to be checking our forum(s) daily... and can only block, edit, move, etc. posts in our forums.
If alerted by the "Report this post to the Moderator" link at the bottom right of each post, we will in turn report the situation to the appropriate people up the chain and take actions as deemed necessary.
I've moved a few posts from Lawns to other forums, but haven't had to play Policeman, Judge or Jury yet (thank goodness... )
Hope this helps.
Howie

Yup sometimes tis difficult
On my list we have an old gal 85 yo.
She at one time, was one of the the top soil argronomists on the west coast, But at other time her post thru "God" are a little out in left field. At times it's tough
