The true difference in propane and natural gas

I have a project in installing a hot water heater and need to know if by switching over from natural gas to propane will effect the burner and does it need to be regulated... will it burn the same.

Simple answer, YES, YES, NO

Conversion must be made. Pressure is different, orifices are different, specific gravity is different, btu content is different, control is different. With all due respect this is not a DIY task. It may be worthwhile to purchase a new water heater rated for propane use out of the box.

I dont know of any newer style water heaters that you can get a conversion kit for. They are made for either NG or LP....
