Unhappy Help me identify my propane hose please

Long story short, damaged propane hose (with integrated regulator) on my propane patio heater. I purchased a new hose and regulator with the standard 3/8 female flare swivel fitting to connect to the gas valve. This fitting is way too big and I have been unable to identify the fitting. It is VERY close to a 5/16" compression fitting size and thread but that isn't right. Is it possible that it's a 1/4" inverted flare?

I'm away from the cottage now for awhile and didn't think to get photos or the brand of the patio heater. I just though that it was a standard 3/8 flare fitting (just like most BBQs and grill tops). I'm now wondering if this is a special fitting or common to patio heaters.

Manufacturers can do whatever they want so there are a couple possibilities for what fitting size you will need. 1/4" inverted flare is probably the most common.
