Hello DLUKAS. Welcome to my Gas Appliances forum and our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.
The simple answer is: possible but not worth the time and costs.
Best bet is to sell the appliance, pass it off to another family member or donate it to a favorite charity.
If daughter is planning staying stay awhile, buy a good used electric dryer from a local used appliance store.
If her duration there will be or is planned to be a short term stay, keep the existing dryer and use the provided coin operated machines. You'll be miles ahead dollar wise this way.

Used dryers
Normally a better deal can be found from and induvudual seller rather than an appliance store.
Most of the time an electric dryer can be had for $100 or less.
A dryer from a store wil most likely come with a 30 day warranty but will cost a bit more.
