Unhappy Maytag Gas Dryer Not Igniting

We have an old Maytag dryer model LDG482 Series 1 that the pilot will not ignite. There is a sticker on the inside of the dryer door that says this dryer is equipped with an Intermittent type ignition device. I opened the little door at the bottom right of the dryer, and there is no flame anywhere. I started the dryer, and everything seems to run, but there is a humming/buzzing that sounds like something is trying to ignite, but nothing lights up. Is there anything I can do to get this working, or do we just need to call a repair guy out?

Thank you,

Bruce

Cool

Hi,

**Maytag dryer model LDG482 Series 1**

No pilot light....you have a glow coil ignitor system....glows hot white to ignite the gas....you can see about this system below....

Tough call...but if you have an ohm meter and some testing tips...maybe you can test yourself

See if the glow coil is comming on at all, if no...is it cracked?
Coils on the gas valve can be ohmed with the ohm meter, flame sensor switch cna be ohmed with the ohm meter. Always a good idea to clean/check the venting and vent hood with any dryer problem.
