Question gas dryer repair

My gas dryer, when it is running is making a horrible screeching noise. It is heating and the belt is intact. I have lifted the top and checked the belt and manually rotated the drum. When I then turn it on, it will run a few minutes without the noise, but it eventually starts with the screeching. Can you help?

Cool

Hi,

Without knowing the make, model, style or age of your dryer we will be very general. Dryer drum supports ( wheels, rollers, glides ) often wear and can make noises. Idler pulleys, motors are next on the list of noise makers. When bad any one of these parts can/will make a screech noise

The dryer would need to be checked to see which/what is making the noise. Sometimes listening to the noise helps...a slow(er) noise is often at drum speed ( rollers, ect ), a faster noise is more at the motor/idler pulley speed.

Wink gas dryer

Jeff, Thank you for your reply. I, at least now know where to start looking, or rather have my son-in-law start looking. The dryer is a Kenmore, and I don't the age but is old. But, thanks for the info. Patty

Hello,

**The dryer is a Kenmore, and I don't the age but is old.**

Drum rollers and idler pulley are the most common noise makers on a Kenmore dryer.
