Thumbs down *No Heating Appliances, Fireplace and/or Water Heater Questions* (Updated 02-09)

Note to all forum topic users and readers:

Asking questions which pertain to natural gas water heaters, gas fireplaces, fireplace gas log sets, furnaces and/or room and and/or living environment area heaters would be best answered in the forum topic which specifically deals with the appliance.

Although my Gas Appliances forum welcomes questions on natural gas appliances, I do not suggest posting questions on the appliances mentioned above in this forum topic.

As a means of offering you a quicker method for obtaining helpful information with questions, I suggest you do a "Search" within the existing forum questions. Key words are an important aspect to searching. Use the keyword search method to best obtain answers.

Existing questions already asked that are like or similar to the problems with the appliance you have, will contain almost every possible & potential solution to the most common problems often associated to these appliances.

Knowing the exact problem description and searching using the key words of other topics on the appliance in question and searching using those key words will help to locate the postings quickly.

Additional Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web sites for product information, problem possibilities, solving methods, part & assembly locations, disassembly, reassembly, proper repair methods & procedures to follow, pictorials, schematics, etc. which may be provided online.

As it pertains to appliances, an excellent source for original replacement parts is your local retail appliance parts store. Retail parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem(s) may be.

Bring the make, model and serial numbers. The information will help to determine the possible problem causes. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.

Kindly be sure to select the correct forum topic based upon the type of heating system you have.

Our resident moderator heating and or water heater professionals can provide the helpful information, suggestions, repair methods and advice needed. Kindly read existing questions in those forums, before asking your question. Doing so will help you more quickly resolve the problem you are having with your heating appliance or water heater.

Should you need further assistance after posting your original question and/or after attempting any repair solutions offered, please do not post another new question on the same appliance. Always use the REPLY button.

Using the REPLY button keeps all threads together, automatically moves the question back up the daily list of questions for easy reading & following along for everyone else concerned.

When posting any new question, in the subject line, type in as few words as possible. Avoid brand names in the subject line. Ask your question, supplying all the details, brand name, model type, serial numbers, fuel type, problem descriptions, recent repairs, parts replacements, etc within the "Text" body of the message only. Not in the title. Doing so helps to clearly identify the problem in the title which aids in searching within the forums topic.

Your assistance in these matters will be very much appreciated.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the most likely possible problem may be. They will need the make, model and serial numbers.

Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts and problem resolving matters. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.

Be sure the electrical power to the appliance is turned off, before attempting any repairs. Always check for gas leaks whenever a repair includes any connection of a gas part.

Read the existing questions on the subject of dryers. Doing so will quickly provide you with answers to questions & provide additional information on how to resolve the problem.

DRYER SERVICE TIP:
It's always advisable to clean the entire exhaust venting system every 2 years. Or during any dryer maintenance, connection and or repairs.

Always consider the warranties and future service needs for any major appliances your considering to purchase. Price isn't always the best guide for long term appliance investments.
