Question Kenmore stove repair?

Hi,
I own a gas Kenmore stove,model#362.7361893.
Serial#4L282343P
The touch pad that controls the oven temp up&down,is almost impossible to get working.
Is this an expensive repair? The face of the touch pad is also damadged from pressing so hard to get it to work.I want an idea,as Iam thinking of having it fixed by an appliance repair person. Also can you tell me the appox year of this stove,it was in the house when we bought it.Thanks

Hello: cschroth1

Going to the Sears web site should help you to locate the appliance by model number. Use their search engine to locate your appliance.

The control panel is not an inexpensive part to replace.

However, it can be a do it yourself task to save on labor costs, if one is reasonably handy and feels comfortable removing the panel. Not all that difficult either.

I would suggest you attempt it. Unplug the power cord, remove the attaching screws and remove the entire panel. Behind it will be the control board.

Take it to the local appliance aprts store and price it. If it is within the price range you are willing to pay, make the purchase. Than install the new part yourself.

Do so by replacing the new one exactly as the currect one is installed. Take notes during the removal of the existing parts.

Be sure to unplug the appliance from the electrical power first.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers.

Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts. Appliance parts dealers sell replacement parts for all appliances. They are listed in the phone book under appliances.
