Kenmore dryer never finishes auto cycle

I have a Kenmore Gas dryer model 110.8767110 that never finishes when using the auto setting. The knob stops at the same point each time.

The timed and air settings work fine.

I watched the area where the flame is when the dryer gets "stuck" and noticed that it will glow every minute but the flame never comes on.

After reading quite a few posts and tips I cleaned my vent area and verified there wasn't any lint build up but that didn't help.

Any ideas??

Welcome Bob to my Gas Appliances forum and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Chanches are the timers internal contacts are sticking in that one location on the timer. Try manually turning the knob a tiny bit so it advances slightly and note what happens. May allow the cycle to continue past that sticking point. If so, verifies the timer is defective. Replacement is the only solution.

Another possibility for the cycling of the hot surface glow ignitor may be weak solenoids. The solenoid coils are mounted directly on top of the gas valve. Each has a wire harness assembly with a plastic quick disconnect attached. The coils must be removed and replaced if defective. Not as likely in this case since you mentioned the timed cycle works fine.
