LP to Natural Gas Conversion?
#1

I have been given a used GE gas dryer that is set to run LP. I have natural gas and wonder how difficult it would be to convert the dryer (currently using electric). Also, where might I find a conversion kit, if available?
Thank you,
Gary

Hello: Gary
Dryer conversion parts are available at local appliance parts stores. The part stores are in the phone book. You will need to purchase a new orifice and install it on the burner. Also turn over the cap on the tower on the gas control valve. Be sure the power cord is removed from the dryer before attempting any repairs or convewrsion or part removals.
The entire gas control valve assembly must be removed to do the conversion. The gas shut off valve is to the right on the gas valve on the gas supply pipe inside the burner compartment. The hex nut turns counter clock wise. There will be a few sheet metal screws securing the plate the burner assembly is on to the bottom of the dryer.
