Self-cleaning Doesn't

Greetings! I have a 11 year-old caloric (presitege) gas range. The burners work and the oven works. However, It will no longer self-clean itself. The self-cleaning light goes on and off during the procss, but at the end of the cycle it is not cleaned. Hmmm. What shall I do?

Hello Johnboy133 and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances topic.

Honest answer. Do nothing. The age of that appliance may not warrant repairs, the cost of the needed parts may be more than you care to invest or not even available.

The simple cause may be the contact switch in the door locking device. Accessing that device may be easy or difficult based on the model. Another cause may be the selection switch. Access to it should be from the back of the appliance. Some electrical testing may also need to be done to determine if any part or componet is working or getting power.

Best place to find out how much the part(s) will cost & if they are available would be at the local appliance part stores. Retail parts dealers & appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.

Additional Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes, solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, schematics, downloadable repair and or owners manuals which may be available online.
