replacing gas cooktop

How difficuly is it to replace an existing gas cooktop with another. Can it be done without a professional? And what are the steps.Thanks.

Very difficult question to answer. What is your level of mechanical experience? Is the new to surface unit the same size as the old one? Look at the connections that have to be removed and than replaced.
Will the opening be larger, smaller or the same? Is it something you are comfortable tackling?

thanks for the response. The current size is a 30", I think we want to have a 36". I know that involves increasing the cutout. I'm pretty handy, just wondering if its removing, enlarging, and reconncting the gas and power. thanks.
