I have a Maytag gas dryer, model D7500, approximately 6-7 years old. When you turn the dryer on it will ignite for a few seconds and then go out. The vent is clear and it worked fine this morning.

Hi: Cathi

First most common problem for this symptom,
one of the controls on the front panel is in the wrong setting.

It was one one of the very easiest home service calls to do. Less then 5 minutes to make $45.00. Check the controls if not done already.

Second most common problem you already checked for, the restricted vent.

Most likely one of the solenoids on the gas valve has become defective.

Also a remote possiblity one of the contacts in the thermostat is burned out.

There are several other possiblities all related to controls, sensors or safety devices.

In my opinion, without the proper testing equipment, tools and knownledge, one would need to replace one part at a time until the correct one is found. Not a good solution.

Best bet is to contact the local service agency for your brand.
