Question

Tom,
I have a Kenmore 70 series gas dryer that will not heat. I replaced the ignitor to no avail. I checked the sensor and it tested Ok. Any ideas???? Is it possible that the ignitor will not glow if I have the dryer partially disassembled?? Please Help
Thanks,
Chris

Hi:Chrisg

There is several possiblities for your dryers symptoms. Most of those are explained in the post just above yours.

Yes. The dryer will run if the drum is supported, the belt is on the drum and the door safety switch button is held in by hand.

Careful, when you turn on the timer the exposed wires have full current in them. Grounding one will cause a short, may damage another part and one may even shock you.

Usually when the glow coil fails to lite, it's a bad coil on the gas valve. However, the contacts in the timer may also be the cause.

Timers are non repairable and non returnable. If you have any doubts about the condition of this item, and your going to the parts store, ask to have yours checked before buying a new one.
