Question

I have a Kenmore Gas Stove, with electonic ignition, Model No. 362.7172892, approx. 5 yrs old. The oven quit heating recently while in use and has not worked since. The rest of the stove works great. Any suggestions on which part(s) needs to be replaced would be greatly appreciated.

Hi:terihines

If your oven has a glow coil ignition and the coil fails to turn on, be sure the oven controls on the front panel are set correctly before you start looking for defective parts.

If all the controls are set correctly, you can remove the glow coil carefully and take it in for testing. If it fails, buy the replacement and install it.

Be aware the glow coil is extremely fragile. Some types of coils are costly too.

If the ignition system is the spark type, locate the module the sparking element is connect to and take that part in for testing. If it fails, buy and install that part.

Tips:
Unplug the stove first.
Remember exactly where everything goes that you remove.

Hint:
Electic parts purchased over the counter are NOT returnable.

Good Luck.
