GE gas oven

our gas oven stopped working... the pilot light is there but when we turn the temp knob on the pilot wont ignite the dohickie where the flame is suppose to go...sorry I don't know what it is called. HELP????

Best I can determine for the ovens failure to operate from the discription provided, is the fluid safety isn't being heated by the actuating pilot.
Best suggestion is to call your gas utility provider and have them take a look at it. Most likely the pilot assembly only needs cleaning.
Check the control panel and be sure all the controls are in the proper position, especially if the oven has a built in clock and a feature for timed <delayed> starting.
