Gas Dryer runs hot
#1

After replacing a busted belt our 3yr GE model dblr33gt0aa runs hot, hot. very abnormal, I ck'd vent, the hose and no obstructions found. Any thoughts on what to r/r at this point. This dryer runs so hot that I installed a additional smoke alarm in the wash area just in case. Thanks

Hi:toot
I gave your question/problem some serious thought. Best I could come up with is a disconnected or loose wire on the thermostat.
However, even that is most likely not the problem. The burner should not come on if that was in fact the case.
????...hummm...but it may be worth a look. Re open the access panels you removed to install the belt and check for unconnected or loose wire or wires anywhere.
Next troubling thought is if the dryer was running that hot to cause you to have concern...then the clothes should be drying very quickly and shrinking up way too much!
Are they?
Try using a thermometer in the exhaust vent close to the dryer exhaust. The temp should be around 110/120 degress. Much hotter and you may have a problem.
All else fails contact an appliance repair service agency. Your local gas company does not offer this temperature checking service. However, they will make a free service call, if you request it. Phone number is on the bill.
Good Luck,
