Unhappy

My 6 year old gas hot water tank has slow drip at the drain valve. Replacing the washer on the drain valve helped, but did not stop the drip. The drain valve is not brass. It appears to made of some kind of composition plastic. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks. GNG

Hi:gngambino

Since you already replaced the gasket, try flushing the tank. Could be some sediment stuck on the valve seat that flushing will remove.

Flushing is also a good idea to do yearly. Especially if the house piping is galvanized or steel pipe.

All else fails, two choices:
Replace the whole valve.
Install a cap.
Hardware stores sell caps which you install on the threaded faucets end.

Good Luck,
