dryer gives off odor
#1

I have an old kenmore gas dryer that has recently been giving off an odor that smells like jet fuel. The smell gets into my clothes also. It has done this in the past and the exhaust tubing had a hole in it and was all plugged up with lint. I cleaned it all out and it was fine. This time, everything appears clean and lint free. Any suggestions?

Hi:jgrimm
Another cause for this type of odor is vapor fumes from the recent useage of a petroleum based product like oil based paints, stains, varnishes and adhesives, to name just a few.
Have you recently used one of these products? Bet you have. Read the label on the product. If it say's use where there is lots of ventilation, cantains flameble ingredients, combustible, explosive, etc. you found it.
The smell will dissapate as the product cures. In the mean time, run the dryer on AIR FLUFF at the end of the drying cycle to remove that smell.
It would also help to ventilate the house during the days when possible.
Good Luck,
