Cool

Hello! I have a question. We have a GE gas oven model # jgbs15ger3ad and it is about 8 years old. My wife tells me that the oven cooks too hot. Approx 20 to 40 degrees too hot. Could this be the Thermostat or does it need to be reacalibrated? How hard is it to recalibrate? And could this be the problem? We do not have the owners manual.

Hi:Aroybal29

The problem is most likely the thermostat.
Most can be calibrated to correct the overheating condition.

However, this proceedure is not something the appliance owner can do. I suggest you contact your local gas supply utility company first.

Many gas utlities offer this service. If not, contact the local appliance service company and request the service.

Also check the archives in this forum for more specific reasons why an oven calibration is best left to a technician with the correct tools, knowledge and proceedures.
