Question Igniting The Wrong Burner

I have a GE XL44 gas stove. It is acting strangely lately that when switching on the right front burner, the spark is igniting the left rear burner. The gas is coming out from the correct right front burner though. Switches of other burners are OK.
Any helpful hint is greatly appreciated.

Hello jets35. Welcome to my Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Most likely cause is the sparker simply isn't firing. May be just dirty. Simple cleaning using a pipe cleaner or similar device should resolve the problem.

Unless the sparker is defective, wire to it is loose, wire loose at the switch, wire, switch or sparker shorted out some where or you accidentially caused the condition, while cleaning or doing something else.

Read the Range-Stove-Oven-Broiler Basic Help Informational Sticky Note, in this forums topic, for more detailed information.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be also. They will need the make, model an serial numbers. Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.
