Had this dryer for about 1 1/2 years and it has never seemed to work correctly. With nothing in the dryer it cycles the heat on and off. When first tuned on it heats up to about 140 then gas shuts off cools to about 100. Then gas kicks back on up to about 160, gas shuts off cools to about 120. Then gas comes back on up to around 170-180, gas cuts off and cools to 120. Continues the 120 to 180 cycle for as long as I keep it on. When I put wet clothes it never heats up above 100. Same type of gas cycling on and off. Even if the clothes are completely dry it can not reach temps above 100. Without the hose connected it does the same type of cycling.

Hello brennan1752 and Welcome into my Gas Appliances topic.

Dryer may be working correctly. Moisture sensor and heat sensor controlling temps during the heating cycles. Temp will not or cannot always be the same temp.

Drying times are a better means of testing for proper operation and having clothes to dry provides better results then an empty machine. May not be anything wrong with machine.

When clothes are drying, how long before cycles complete? May have a defective thermostat but why change the part(s) when it has not been proved there is any problems. Waste of money with no known solution nor any known problem.

Additional Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers on line web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes, solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, schematics, down loadable repair and or owners manuals which may be available on line.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the most likely possible problem may be. They will need the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts and problem resolving matters. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.

Be sure the electrical power to the appliance is turned off, before attempting any repairs or services. Always check for gas leaks whenever moving the appliance and/or a service or repair includes any connection of a gas part.

Read the existing questions on the subject of dryers. Doing so will more quickly provide you with answers to questions & provide additional information on how to resolve dryer problems.
