Hello tecate87 and Welcome to my Gas Appliances topic.

Much can depend upon why the sparker's fail to spark. What happened? Spill a liquid? Wash cook top? Power surge?

Lots of possibilities. Difficult to diagnose a problem with limited info. Kindly use reply button and add much more details and specific info.

Almost all possible problems, if not all problems, are covered in the range-stove sticky note. Each has possible solutions. Reading that long thread will provide quick answers to problems.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be also. They will need the make, model an serial numbers. Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.

***If and or when you attempt any repairs, "Be sure the electrical power to the appliance is turned off, before attempting any repairs. Always check for gas leaks whenever the appliance is moved and/or a repair includes any connection of a gas part."

Kindly use the reply button to post all replies, add additional information or ask additional questions when replies are posted. Using this method moves and/or keeps the topic back up to the top of the list of questions automatically and keeps all content on the same subject within one thread.

stove

not sure what actually happened to make it stop working. Could have possible been power surge? or spill would be my guess. I did call Sears where the stove was purchased, but they dont offer repair advice over the phone is what I was told. They will be glad to send repair specialist out for their high fee's. Is there a relay or module that could have went bad ??

Hello tecate87

Power surge can cause the present condition but not likely. More likely the fuse (if any) for the spark module burned out. Not all sparker modules have a fuse.

To determine if that appliance has a fused module, you will need to locate spark module by following back the wires from the switches to the module.

If module has a cover, remove the single Phillips head screw and remove the sheet metal cover. Then remove the fuse from holder clips. Use an ohm meter to test for continuity across fuse ends. No continuity, fuse defective. Continuity, fuse ok.

Be aware, the fuse is a very special type used only in appliances. Must be replaced with an exact type and rating. Appliances fuses should be purchased at a local appliance parts store to be sure obtaining the exact correct one for that appliance.

No fuse and no known cause for sparker's to be inoperative, likely cause, if none of the switches activate sparker's, power to appliance is off or module is defective. Replace module only choice left.

Cautionary Reminder Note:
Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.
