Gas Oven intermittent lighting problem

I have a GE gas range, model JGBS22BEAICT, 5 years old, with an electric igniter. The top burners work fine. The problem is that the oven does not always light. Sometimes it may take 3 to 4 minutes to come on and other times it works fine. There is a gas smell when it takes that long. A new igniter and gas valve were installed and that did not fix the problem. I can take a hand-held propane lighter, turn the oven knob on high and it will come on after 3 or 4 minutes, but the flame is very weak and goes out easily, leaving the gas on. It appears at times that the gas flow is too low for the igniter to light it. An appliance repairman and the gas company have checked it. Any ideas?

Hello Landlord2 and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and to my Gas Appliances topic.

Likely a defective gas valve or a mis match between the two new parts, etc. You need to contact whom ever it was that fixed the appliance and installed the parts. They will need to re-diagnose the condition and replace any defective part.

Even though parts where new, does not insure they work as intended. An improper match between igniter and gas valve can also cause problems. Contact the rep agent.

Cautionary Reminder Note:
Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.
