Help with Thermador Gas/Electric Oven

Hi- I have a 10 year old Thermador stove, gas burners, electric oven. Model RDSS30

The burners light with a sparker. The sparker has stopped working. When I shut off the circuit for the unit and turned it back on the sparkers started working again. But they stopped working again.

Any ideas? And if I need to replace the unit that makes the sparkers work, how do I get inside the unit?

Thanks

Hello egizzi. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic.

Only idea I have is the spark module has lost it's ability to hold an electrical charge. Reason why it does not work after recharging it when you unplug the appliance and plug it back in. Module then needs to be replaced.

Module very likely to be located under the top lid. Access may be possible through a removable back panel cover or under a lift-able top, depending upon model.

Check with the local appliance parts stores in your area for parts and ask for a print out of the disassembly page. Ask if a service manual is available. May have to buy that too. Call the manufacturers help number, read the sticky note for numbers to call and web sites to visit, etc, and ask if a service manual is available for sale.

Cautionary Reminder Note:
Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.

Retail parts dealers and appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.
