Kenmore Gas Dryer Drum Hitting Top of Dryer

I just moved into a new house and had a moving company move my washer and dryer. Now that the dryer is hooked up it sounds like the drum is rotating and hitting the top of the dryer. It has a scraping sound as it turns. What can I do to correct this problem??

Hello mjersey. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Very possible the drum is not resting evenly and or squarely on it's lower pad(s) and or the drum rollers. As a direct or indirect result of rough handling upon moving or the machine was laid over on one side during the moving process, etc.

To correct the condition, try repositioning the drum by opening the door, slightly lifting the drum and shifting it around until the drum feels like it has dropped or is resting evenly in the door opening and on it's rollers or sliding pad.

By looking at the door frame and the front edges of the drum, it may be possible to visually see if the drum is off center, in relationship to the door frame, etc. If such is possible, it will be a clue as to how to reposition the drum.

If the above fails... or is not possible, the front panel will need to be removed from the front of the dryer and the drum reset onto it's slider pads. The lower front lip of the drum needs to fit into the front resting groove of the support bracket attached to the door bracket. Front support brackets attached to the inside of the door frame is usually made of plastic and has a felt padding lining.

Or there will be a drum support frame onto which the drum rests. Which will be attached to the left and right side machine supports. Either way, the drum has to be resting properly in it's support bracket.
