Gas Range - Soot

One of the burners on my natural gas range is producing suit.

Does the burner need to adjusted?

The suit is staining the stainless steel range top. Do you know how the stain can be removed? Stainless steel polish doesn't do it.

Thanks.

Hello r95753 and Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic.

The burner that is sooting will have yellow flames. Indicates a lack of air being mixed with the gas. You'll need to clean that burner around the air shutter. Air shutter is located on the back end opposite the burner head on the burner tube.

Burner may need to be removed to inspect the inside of the tube. May have an air restriction inside the tube or only on the shutter. Inspect all areas for obstructions, debris, etc. May not need an air shutter adjustment.
