Tappan oven worth repair?
My Tappan oven needs the safety valve replaced. The best deal I can find on the part is around $100. I can't decide if I should pay to replace such an expensive part or buy a new oven. How do you decide the value of a gas oven. I don't know how old it is. The model #32-1002-23-01. Where can I get an idea of what it's worth?

An appliances value, in my opinion (IMO) is an arbitrary figure. It's not necessarily the dollar amount of it's valve. More likely it's value to you as the user of the appliance.
Therefore, neither I nor can anyone else place a value on the appliance. It's your choice to fix it or replace it.
If the rest of the appliance is in good enough condition to keep and it suites your needs, fits into your present financial budget over the cost of a replacement, the repair cost is small and likely worth it, to you as the owner and user.
